San Andrés Church

It is one of the principal Monuments of this city, so much for their facade like the elements that they in them meet like the organ and the Old Reredos. In the last years have suffered a great restoration. According to antecedents their construction is due to the initiative of the bishop Placentino D.Gutierre de Vargas y Carvajal in the period 1524 at 1529. It have suffered important amplifications and change from their construction.

One of the most interesting looks of this church is that they are stood out two types of conceptions.

The first conception is observed in the Old Chapel for their characteristics dates the first half of the XVI century, with a conservative conception.

The other stays the criterion of only ship, wider substituting you it weighed and expensive vault of gothic architecture for a cover of panelled supported in airy traverse arches.

	The Old Reredos

It is one of the marvels of this church, where many historians consider it like a small museum by its architectural, sculptural and pictorial elements . The Old Reredos is gold-plate wooden, it consist of two bodies and loft. This gifted of grooved columns, finished in corinthians spires with five streets or intercolumniation, busy for paths niches in the lateral with imagines and pictures in the intermissions. Their renaissance style dates of final of the XVI century or beginnings of the XVII.

	The Organ

It is an organ of tubes of big dimension. It are considered like the better of the musical instruments of this location. This compound of 54 keys and their 16 registrations. Their construction was carried out in two years for the Teacher Francisco Yusta, suffering important restorations and tunings along the time.

San Andrés church is considered like one of the monuments of Navalmoral with more history and very interesting of visiting.

	CROSS of the "ROLL"

The Roll, monument of 1637, this considerate the symbol of the municipal justice.

It has a very important historic courage in the history of Navalmoral, it is the symbol of village of Navalmoral de la Mata and their municipal autonomy.

Description of the "Roll":

It run off with on a square pedestal of 3 steps. It is a cylinder worked in granite, with 3 meter of height, finished off by four corbel and a cone fringed with ball. On the cylinder, a shield in two barracks where they are the castle and the lion, very diagramed with an inscription in spanish.

According to the historians and the study carried out by Mr. José Bueno Rocha this symbol today doesn't have the macabre significant of scaffold that it had especially in the Middle Ages; it neither had it when I get up the Roll live it. It do not consist that any criminal is executed in him.

	"ANGUSTIAS" HERMITAGE

We can firm that there are architectural details of final of the XV century or beginnings of the XVI, where, along the time have carried constant amplifications.

The rose Gothic is one of the characteristic elements of the Hermitage, that this dedicated to our Mrs. of the Angustias.

Like the majority of the monuments of Navalmoral big restorations have been produced, the one which makes that live them then recuperates part of our history.

	THE STATION

One of the strong points of Navalmoral are the communications, the railroad arrives to Navalmoral in 1878, in the way of Oropesa-Navalmoral, which communicated to Madrid with Navalmoral.

This brought gets that it is constructed the Station, one of the most beautiful stations of the district.

	FUNDACIÓN CONCHA

It is a foundation beneficent-social, found by Mr.Antonio Mª Concha Cano June 24 1882, it meet the "Library Shell" and several cultural services (expositions, educational classes, etc.).

This foundation has helped in great measurement to the cultural development of Navalmoral.

	"CAÑOS" FOUNTAIN

It was constructed in 1842 in order to endow to the population of a better supply of water, a monument to the that incorporated a frieze with Roman mask, which was destroyed with posteriority, due to the lacking in maintenance.

There is a replica in Rafael Medina Square .

	"CABALLERA STONE"

One could say that it is a natural monument, of the most representative of Navalmoral de la Mata.

It has been located in the outsides of the city, from there are gotten one of the better views of the city. This monument consists in two big rocks, one superposes above the other in state of equilibrium, in the summit of the mountain.

A jewel that has donated the nature to the inhabitants of Navalmoral. One could consider like a symbol for Navalmoral people.

	"DOLMEN"

It is one of the last constructions that they have been produced in Navalmoral, with a style novel, that it offers Navalmoral like a city that gets worried for the art and the culture.

	"COMILLAS HOUSE"

One could consider like one of the most interesting buildings of Navalmoral, belonging to the XVIII century.

They stand out the grills like of great artistic eminent and a beautiful facade that has been restored few years ago.

According the historians is a building that represents the great economical peak that suffered this city in the XVIII century, that was used as habitation for big personalities of the time.

	"JUSTICE PALACE"
